CIVILIANS Our context is that we do this for the military personnel. We invite American civilians, 18 years of age or older to sign up here at our web site. As we receive the name and military address of military personnel who request Civilian PenPals, we email one military name/address to each civilian signed up. It is then the responsibility of the Civilian PenPal to initiate the relationship in writing, supplying their return address. At no time does PatrioticPenPals give out any civilians information. Due to recent events, we ask that the civilians start with postcards, until your Military PenPal gives you the go ahead to use enclosed envelopes.

What We Request and Why
We require your name, mailing address and an email address of your choosing. We never give out this information to anyone whatsoever, with one exception. If you, by mistake, register on the military page instead of the civilian page, the computer will match you up with another civilian and email that civilian your information, so please be sure you register on the Civilian Registration page.

We collect an email address for you because this is the method we use to send you your Military PenPals information. We collect your mailing address as back up to your email address in case it doesnt work or if we need to contact you in the future long after an email address is gone or changed. If the Military PenPal has lost your address, we may write you a letter to this effect, but be assured, that at no time will we supply your PenPal with your information. That is your responsibility.

We also invite you to submit information about your gender, age and veteran status, but it is strictly voluntary. This is only used for those Military PenPals who might have preferences. You need not answer these questions in order to participate.

An Added Service
For several weeks, after being assigned a Military PenPal, the Civilian PenPal will have a userID and password with which he/she can look up the contact information for their assigned Military PenPal only, in case they should misplace the original email containing the information.

Family, Friends and Students
We also invite your family, friends and students to join in as additional support, but encourage this as additional support and not as a replacement for the initial relationship with you.

With Your Assistance as a Civilian
We invite the Civilian Penpals to assist with reaching out to military personnel who may wish to have a Civilian PenPal. We suggest that at any time in your correspondence with your Military PenPal you invite him/her to offer this program they are enjoying to their military colleagues. If the military colleagues do not have Internet access, we invite you to have them send to you the names and corresponding military addresses and ask you to e-mail them to us.
You are under no obligation to do this, but any assistance in spreading this service is appreciated.

MILITARY You may sign up here at our web site. WE will notify you by email that you have been matched but your email address will NEVER be given out. Only your name and military address will be given to one penpal who, for the safety of all postal and military personnel, is instructed to write to you only with postcards until you say otherwise and no packages unless you request it. Also, you are not obligated to write back (although when you are available, you may want to write at least once to let them know you are receiving their cards.)
